What if I've never baked before?

That's literally who these are made for. Every kit comes with a stamp, cookie cutter, recipe, and step-by-step instructions built for total beginners. Dough can take a tiny bit of experimenting because humidity, flour brand, and room temp all play a role, but once you nail it, you'll be unstoppable.

What recipe should I use?

We want you to be successful baking your cookies so we provide a full video tutorial, detailed instructions, and our tried-and-true cookie recipe with every order. Our stamps also work well with any Springerle cookie recipe, fondant, or rolled buttercream.

How do the cookies taste?

Butter. Sugar. Vanilla. Our customers are obsessed. You can also riff on our base recipe and add your own flavors. It's a great starting point, not a rulebook.

What if the dough sticks to the stamp?

Your dough is too warm. Pop it in the fridge for a few minutes and try again. You're looking for soft and pliable (like play-dough) but still cool to the touch.

What if the design melts away in the oven?

Chill your dough before it goes in. That's the main thing. We cover all the common hiccups in our step-by-step instructions and video, but cold dough = crisp impressions.

Do I need to decorate them or can I just bake and serve?

Both! Stamped cookies look stunning straight out of the oven, no decoration needed. But if you want to take it up a notch, luster dust is your new best friend. Mix it with a few drops of high-proof alcohol or clear-extract and paint it on. It dries fast, leaves zero residue, and makes your cookies look like they came from a fancy bakery.

How do I clean and care for my stamp?

A little dish soap, a bristled brush, 5–10 seconds of gentle scrubbing, a cold water rinse. Done. Let it dry fully before storing.

For oil: your stamp arrives pre-treated so you're good to go out of the box. Re-oil when the wood looks dry or dull, after several washes, or before long-term storage. Use food-safe mineral oil only! Never olive or vegetable oil (they go rancid). Apply with a cloth, let it absorb overnight, wipe off the excess. That's it.

Can you make a custom stamp?

Yes! Your design needs to be bold, high-contrast, black-and-white only. No gray, no fine details, no gradients. If it works as a stencil, it'll work as a cookie stamp. Send your design to hello@bakeitfancy.com and I'll take a look and we'll see if we can bring it to life.
