Dough can take a tiny bit of experimenting because humidity, flour brand, and room temp all play a role, but once you nail it, you'll be unstoppable.

Your dough is too warm. Pop it in the fridge for a few minutes and try again. You're looking for soft and pliable (like play-dough) but still cool to the touch.
Chill your dough before it goes in. That's the main thing. We cover all the common hiccups in our step-by-step instructions and video, but cold dough = crisp impressions.
Both! Stamped cookies look stunning straight out of the oven, no decoration needed. But if you want to take it up a notch, luster dust is your new best friend. Mix it with a few drops of high-proof alcohol or clear-extract and paint it on. It dries fast, leaves zero residue, and makes your cookies look like they came from a fancy bakery.
A little dish soap, a bristled brush, 5–10 seconds of gentle scrubbing, a cold water rinse. Done. Let it dry fully before storing.
For oil: your stamp arrives pre-treated so you're good to go out of the box. Re-oil when the wood looks dry or dull, after several washes, or before long-term storage. Use food-safe mineral oil only! Never olive or vegetable oil (they go rancid). Apply with a cloth, let it absorb overnight, wipe off the excess. That's it.
Yes! Your design needs to be bold, high-contrast, black-and-white only. No gray, no fine details, no gradients. If it works as a stencil, it'll work as a cookie stamp. Send your design to hello@bakeitfancy.com and I'll take a look and we'll see if we can bring it to life.
